SWAMP – Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program
The Main Components
| Monitoring conducted under SWAMP was initially proposed to include
a combination of statewide monitoring and site-specific monitoring. Statewide Monitoring would provide a picture of the status and trends in water quality. Site-Specific Monitoring employs a more targeted monitoring approach to better characterize clean and problem locations. Currently, only the site-specific monitoring portion of this program is being implemented. The other main components of this program are a rigorous Quality Assurance and Quality Control Program and a Centralized Data Management System. Implementation of these components of the program will help meet the objective of collecting high quality monitoring data that could be of the most use to the State and Regional Water Boards' programs. |
